Tissue Transfer Service Mansfield Cryogenics Ltd operate a Tissue Transfer service for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, this has been in operation for 10 years, with Mansfield Cryogenics Ltd providing this transportation service for the past 5 years. Human Tissue has to be transported using Liquid Nitrogen and specialist equipment to ensure that there is no degradation of the samples during transit. The Tissue Transfer facility is approved by the appropriate ethical committee, and the Trust's own Research & Development committee adhering to strict pre-defined protocols and standard operation procedures as defined within the Human Tissue Transfer legislation. Human Tissue is extracted from surgical and Post Mortem procedures with the appropriate consent from the patient or next of kin under strict guidelines, and transferred to a tissue repository for research, education and training. Primary research is into the cause , prevention and maintenance of pain associated with Rheumatoid Arthiritis and Osteoarthiritis, much of the research work is carried out at Nottingham City Hospital, further research is also carried out by Astra Zeneca for commercial aspects of the same conditions. Tissue Transfer is completed with strict protocols in place ensuring that there is no compromise with the integrity of information with the transfer process.
